Tigers Sport and Education Trust Link up with OSC
Last year, The OSC donated £200 to the Trust’s Health Team to help with providing smoothie makers for the ‘Fit to Play’ programme which has seen over 1400 children complete the 5 week health and wellbeing course in schools around Hull and The East Riding.
The OSC has joined forces with the Health Team again in offering free membership to anyone joining Tigers FC. The Tigers FC programme is aimed at men aged 18 – 40 years old who are looking to increase their physical activity, learn about healthy balanced diet and issues surrounding men’s health, increase self esteem or just wanting to play a bit of football and have a laugh with friends or new people.
The Tigers FC project has seen over 200 men engaged by the Health Team and over 50 men have completed the 6 week course which includes health assessment and report, sessions on smoking cessation, nutritional advice, physical activity advice and information on all services available in the city and local areas. The sessions also include a practical session which incorporates cardiovascular and strength and conditioning exercises. The sessions always finish in a small sided game of football.
The project is open to all abilities and levels of fitness.
The OSC is a thriving community of Hull City supporters. It has been operating since December 2003 and entitles members to many benefits.

The Tigers Sport and Education Trust (formerly Football in the Community) have been extremely grateful for the OSC support and hope that it will not only raise the profile of the Tigers FC project but help increase numbers for the OSC membership.
The Tigers FC members enjoyed a match day experience at the Coventry City game on 2nd October 2010. The men from the Tigers FC programme played a 7 a-side match on the pitch at the KC stadium at half time during the NPower Championship match.
The game started brightly and the nerves were soon dispensed which created some passing football and flashes of brilliance from both sides. Tigers FC founder members Paul Andrew and Dave Robinson lived the dream by scoring on the KC pitch with Harry Moosa netting an impressive brace in reply. The game finished a respectable 2 -2 draw and was thoroughly enjoyed by all the lads who played.
“The community day game was a good experience personally, to play in front of the crowd. Secondly the exercise training practices have been very good as well, as it gets harder and slightly more intense every week. “ (Paulo Utobs).
“The opportunity to play at half time was a real treat, not only did we get to play on the KC pitch, we saw behind the scenes and got to promote the Tigers FC project, which is a great way of keeping fit and gives health checks and information on healthy living from professional trainers. I`ve tried gyms before but got bored so quickly, and after over 10 years of partying hard with hardly any exercise or healthy eating habits, the Tigers FC course has been fantastic. It`s the only fitness programme I`ve wanted to stay involved with, I feel fitter each week and it’s great to train with people of various ages who also want to get fit.." (Steve Coldwell)
"Running out onto the Pitch in front of 20,000 people was fantastic - now I know what it feels like to have the best job in the world - well at least for 7 minutes anyway!! I can't believe such a fantastic project exists - fun, educational and run by brilliant people" (Alun McMillan)
The Community Health Team hope to hold another community day in which to showcase some of the hard work which is being done within the city through many different projects. If you would like the opportunity to take part in a game on the KC Stadium pitch please get in touch.
